Giverny (Gigi) van Heemstra

Giverny (Gigi) van Heemstra was born in Amsterdam, and grew up in a medieval town nearby. After the completion of gymnasium, she went on to study Economics and Business Economics at Utrecht University, combined with one year in Rome, completing an excellence programme at LUISS Guido Carli university. During and after her Bachelor studies, she worked as an intern in Public Affairs at a major insurance company, as an analyst on the Dutch derivatives project at a Dutch Bank, and as an audit intern for the financial sector (each role six months). In 2018/2019 she lived in London for one year, studying towards a Master degree in Finance and Accounting at Imperial College Business School London. Currently, she works at a Big Four accounting firm specializing in Banking and Capital Markets.

Outside of work, she loves travelling, the international experience (speaking five languages), as well as that she is keen to discover new places and cultures. Additionally, she has a huge passion for food, cooking, and oenology. Furthermore, she is very interested in music and arts – and a regular visitor of opera, concerts, and museums. To keep fit, she enjoys playing golf, or going sailing or skiing. Finally, she started with voluntary work three years ago, and is continuously involved with new voluntary projects, ranging from Summer Camps in Estonia for people with severe learning difficulties, to day projects for others in need.
